A rarely seen piece from Toni Morrison will be republished next month.

The Associated Press reports that Recitatif appeared in an anthology in 1983 that’s currently out of print.

The story describes a series of interactions between two women, Roberta and Twyla.

Their lives are very different, as one is Black and the other white — but Morrison never specifies which is which.

Recitatif comes out in ebook, print, and audio February 1.

Morrison, who won a Nobel Prize, a Pulitzer Prize, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, was best known for such novels as Song of SolomonBeloved, and The Bluest Eye.
