You might not think you've heard of poet Warsan Shire.
But if you've listened to pop radio since 2016, you might be wrong about that.
In addition to her chapbooks and Tumblr account, the Somali British poet collaborated with Beyoncé for the 2016 visual album Lemonade.
Shire has just released her first full-length poetry collection, Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head: Poems, and appeared on NPR's Weekend Edition in advance of the big day.
Head to NPR to hear her discuss her inspiration for her poetry and read a few passages; you can also read a transcript of the conversation.
