Here's, likely, a dream job for many Fussy followers: roving grammarian.

But it wasn't one that Ellen Jovin found listed somewhere, though.

It's one that she made for herself.

First, the veteran educator decided she had had enough of online interaction and decided to set up a table outside her apartment building.

So many people stopped to take her up on her offer to answer grammar questions that she decided to take the show on the road — to forty-seven states, to be precise.

Jovin has now written a book addressing many (but surely not all) of the questions she fielded during that time, called Rebel With A Clause: Tales And Tips From A Roving Grammarian.

She talked to NPR's Scott Simon about the book, as well as her general grammar philosophy.
