The 2022 Booker Prize longlist has been released, with two record-setting inclusions.
Leila Mottley, who is just twenty, is the youngest ever author nominated (by a large margin; the previous youngest was twenty-six at that time), while Alan Garner, who is eighty-seven, is the oldest, notes the Guardian.
Mottley is also one of three debut novelists.
These thirteen books are competing for a £50,000 ($69,000) prize; the shortlist will be announced September 6, with the winner being revealed October 17.
