Poet Sylvia Plath both was born on this day and — obviously, years later — wrote a key poem ("Ariel," which lent its name to her posthumous collection).
It's fitting then to bring up an excerpt from an essay about Plath today, especially since it reflects on more of her posthumously published work.
Her journals, in particular, include grocery lists, recipes, meal planning, and even food cravings.
Writer Eliza Dumais's reflections on how Plath's culinary life intersected with her literary side, originally published in Cake Zine, are excepted at Lit Hub.
