It's the time of the year where many of us think about trying something new in the not-too-distant future.

For bookworms, that can take the shape of a reading challenge — either reaching a certain number of books or certain mix of them throughout the year.

But if that doesn't appeal to you, here's another suggestion: investigate becoming a beta reader for an author (or several)!

Dave Chesson, who dispenses writing and book-marketing advice on his Kindlepreneur blog, wrote up a guide to becoming a beta reader earlier this year, in case your curiosity has been piqued.

I read a great deal and also did a proof reading course a few years ago. Sadly, I think the course was a bit shambolic so didn't pursue proof reading any further.

I would love to be a beta reader. I read 1-3 books a week & see sooo many typos/errors etc in books. I use a Kindle reader.
