Talk-show host Oprah Winfrey wanted her to know that she loved her new novel, Hello Beautiful, so much that it would be her book club's 100th selection.
Most of us would be floored, and Napolitano was no exception, she told The New York Times.
Fame, after all, was a relatively recent phenomenon for her.
Dear Edward, her previous novel, was a smash hit — but after years of writing and often-fruitless pitching.
Napolitano said that at one point, her father paid for her to take a daylong career assessment in hopes that it would suggest a stable career path for her.
