PEN America and Penguin Random House have teamed up for a lawsuit against a Florida school district’s book bans.

The suit alleges that the Escambia County School District — headquartered in Pensacola — and its school board are violating the First Amendment by removing ten books from library shelves, reports The Associated Press.

Those books include content about race and LGBTQ+ identities; one teacher objected to them, according to the suit, and while a district review committee declared them acceptable, the school board overruled that recommendation and voted to remove them.

The school district did not respond to the AP's requests for comment.
