Some artists are appreciated only after their deaths; others, during their lifetime.

The latter was the the case for novelist Cormac McCarthy, who died yesterday at age eighty-nine.

And now that he's dead, of course, the tributes are pouring in, including from the New York Times's A.O. Scott.

The Times also has a guide to McCarthy's works, for newer-to-him readers, and to where you can stream adaptations of his novels (since, we're guessing, the library wait lists for the books are a bit long right now).

And you can mourn along with other fans of McCarthy's writing.
