What better way to learn about how audiobooks are made than by listening to a podcast segment about the process?

Specifically, NPR showcased Chicago member station WBEZ's podcast Nerdette over the weekend.

Nerdette has done a series on how a book comes to life, focusing on various aspects like the blurb, the cover, film adaptations, and — most recently — the audiobook.

There's a transcript, of course, but you're also welcome to listen to one of Penguin Random House Audio's executive producers as well as several narrators and authors on their selection and creative processes.
