Like any kid, BookRiot contributor and author Grace Lapointe looked for characters in which she could see herself while she was a youngster.
The results weren't exactly encouraging for her, since she's disabled.
And even now, Lapointe has to double-check her memories of anything positive by going back and examining whether they were just less awful than others or whether they were truly positive depictions.
In honor of Disability Pride Month, which takes place in July, she decided to look back at some classic childhood books with disabled characters and share her thoughts on them.
