And so, speaking of mature material, The New York Times is full of stories that aren't age appropriate for everyone today.

One is the obituary of Alice Kahn Ladas, a psychologist and psychotherapist who also wrote a landmark book on female sexuality.

Ladas, who was still seeing patients when she died July 29 at age 102, co-wrote the 1982 bestseller The G Spot: And Other Recent Discoveries About Human Sexuality.

The NY Times also had a look back at the bestselling books in August 1973.

Both the top fiction and nonfiction book were illustrated, but only the latter is in keeping with this post's theme: The Joy of Sex: A Gourmet Guide to Lovemaking by Alex Comfort.

(The former is Kurt Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions.)
