Tana French is releasing a sequel to "The Searcher"

Tana French's new novel comes back to some old material.

Okay, well, maybe "old" is too strong a word to refer to a novel released in 2020.

At any rate, The Hunter — releasing March 5 — is a sequel to The Searcher.

In the latter, a Chicago policeman retires to a village in western Ireland, which may be quaint but also hides a darker side.

The Hunter picks up a few years after this novel's conclusion, when the long-lost father of a local teen turns up with big money and big problems.

French answered some questions about The Hunter in an interview with TODAY.
