A lot of houses that once belonged to authors are beautiful even without the literary connection.

That's certainly true for John le Carré's Cornish cottage.

Literary Hub shared the listing for Tregiffian Cottage, where the spy novelist wrote much of his work including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Constant Gardner.

It's going for $3.7 million and features sea views, a detached writing studio, plenty of green space, an enviable library, and ... a safe room.

Head to Lit Hub to read some of le Carré's son's memories of Tregiffian Cottage and browse plenty of photos.

Le Carré died December 12, 2020.
