The two books whose publishing anniversaries are being covered today both speak to women, but from different ages and eras.
Today is the actual eighty-sixth anniversary of Their Eyes Were Watching God's release.
The novel by Zora Neale Hurston received very mixed reviews in its first year out, and you can read some of the critical reactions to Their Eyes Were Watching God straight from the sources at Literary Hub.
(Of course, we all know which attitude ultimately prevailed.)
This month, meanwhile, marks twenty-five years since The Care and Keeping of You — a book on puberty from the makers of the American Girl dolls — came out.
