The New York Times Book Review staff narrowed down the thousands of books they read each year to one hundred standout books from 2023, which you can view by fiction or nonfiction.

The New York Public Library, meanwhile, went further, with seventy adult books, fifty teen books, and over a hundred kids books — all sortable by themes and genres — in its best reads of 2023 list.
