Many of us are getting ready to hit the road for Thanksgiving.

And if you’re driving rather than flying, you might be turning to audiobooks to help you pass the time.

What if everyone else has beaten you to the good stuff at your local library or you don't have access to a subscription service?

Enter Project Gutenberg ... maybe.

BookRiot's Arvyn Cerézo takes an honest look at the 5,000 AI-produced audiobooks born of the partnership between Project Gutenberg, Microsoft, and MIT.

The bottom line: They're far from perfect, and there are still tons of questions surrounding the ethical use of AI (as well as which classics were selected for this project), but at the same time, they're a start toward equal access to literature.
