An adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley novels has hit Netflix and, thus, headlines.

But it's not the first time that this fraudster has made his way to the screen — far from it.

Both NPR and The New York Times took a look, recently, at why Hollywood can't stop adapting this nearly seventy-year-old novel (and why audiences can't stop watching said adaptations).
