  • The scandal-plagued nonprofit NaNoWriMo, formed in 2006 to support the National Novel Writing Month, announced Monday that it's shutting down (The Guardian).

  • National Poetry Month is still in effect, though, and to mark the occasion, publisher Farrar, Straus, and Giroux has launched a poetry hotline where you can hear an author read a poem (Literary Hub).

  • A bill introduced in Ohio's House Finance Committee would drastically change how libraries are funded, cut over $100 million from their budgets, and require that libraries restrict access to LGBTQ+ books (Book Riot). 

  • South Carolina's State Department of Education postponed a discussion and vote on banning ten books in schools statewide until next month (Book Riot).
