The region 1 field for Book Brawl has been set!
Overall top seed Charles Dickens, backed by the army better known as The Dicken Fellowship, takes on Irving Wallace, who's hoping the current "Sleepy Hollow" revival will give him a Tiny Tim of a prayer against the "Christmas Carol" juggernaut.
Two literary legends -- George Orwell and Richard Wright -- square off in the always brutal No. 8 versus No. 9 contest. Dr. Suess (No. 5) looks to be a favorite against the publicity-shy Lewis Carroll, who also has that whole "fondness for young girls" still thing working against him.
Harper Lee (No. 4), well-rested for the past half-century, meets The Berenstains (No. 13). A shootout is going to happen between Zane Grey (No. 6) and Louis L'Amour (No. 11) -- who will bring the most ammo to this opening round game?
Two titans of science fiction -- Isaac Asimov (No. 3) and Robert Heinlein (No. 14) -- will collide while romance queens Janet Dailey (No. 7) and Nora Roberts (No. 10) will do battle for the hearts (and other parts) of readers.
Finally, No. 2 seed John Steinbeck will compete against "Roots" author Arthur Hailey in a matchup that literary scholars will no doubt be debating for generations to come.
Voting for Book Brawl begins on March 3.
