Book Brawl needed its first-ever overtime to break a tie between No. 1 seed Charles Dickens and No. 5 seed Dr. Seuss.

Dr. Seuss squeaked out one more vote in the extra period to knock out Dickens, 186-185. Our first No. 1 seed has fallen!

Seuss will meet John Steinbeck, who turned back science fiction legend Isaac Asimov, 222-145.

C.S. Lewis' run came to an end at the hands of No. 1 seed William Shakespeare, 224-142. Shakespeare will try to cool off a surging Mark Twain, who blew out Patricia Cornwell, 313-57.

In the other half of the bracket, No. 1 seed Agatha Christie and No. 3 JK Rowling will meet in a Battle of the Brits for the right to go to the final four. Christie started the tourney in dominant fashion but, despite cooling a bit, still had enough to overcome Ray Bradbury, 221-148. Rowling had little trouble with Michael Crichton, 247-123.

Janites danced the night away after Austen dispatched Jules Verne, 235-134, for the right to meet longtime French nemesis Victor Hugo, who sent home Dan Brown, 238-133.

Vote now in the round of eight!
