Jane Austen’s unfinished novel is being adapted into a TV miniseries on both sides of the Atlantic.
PBS Masterpiece (in the U.S.) and ITV (in the United Kingdom) will air the eight hour-long episodes of Sanditon, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Austen only wrote eleven chapters of the novel before her 1817 death.
Sanditon centers on the unconventional Charlotte Heywood and her relationship with Sidney Parker.
A chance accident transports Charlotte from her rural English hometown to the would-be coastal resort that lends the novel its title.
She navigates intrigues and dalliances on her journey to self-discovery and, of course, love.
The script is in the capable hands of screenwriter Andrew Davis, who's known for his work on classic adaptations like War & Peace, Les Miserables, ... and the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries with Colin Firth.
Filming will begin next spring — stay tuned for casting announcements.
