Considering recording the audio version of your own book? You’re not alone.

In an interview with author Anne T. Donahue, who did just that, Quill & Quire reported that nearly half of the audiobooks produced by Penguin Random House Canada in June were narrated by the books’ authors.

Of course, that doesn’t mean recording an audiobook is easy. (If it were, professionals like Grover Gardner wouldn’t be so well respected and sought after.)

Donahue and her audiobook engineer, Bobby Singh, shared six tips from the experience that other authors should know before entering the booth.
