Lovers of linguistics and literature may want to check out the new novel Housegirl, by Michael Donkor.

The first few pages are actually a glossary of Ghanaian terms used throughout the book, and those that Donkor mentioned to All Things Considered’s Audie Cornish reveal interesting insights into culture, etymology, and the book itself.

Housegirl is the story of Amma, a girl growing up in London to Ghanaian parents, and the companion that her parents hire for her, Belinda, who leaves Ghana for this role.
