A pair of posts in our RSS feed might be just what the doctor ordered for writers struggling with the process of actually sitting down to write.

Lynn Dickinson, a professor and a writer herself, walks you through what she calls the inner-excavation process.

Essentially, she says, you must analyze accurately what your habits and tendencies are before you can work with them (or work to change them).

You can read her post on Writer's Digest, and then head over to The Creative Penn.

That's where you'll find author Maxima Kahn’s advice on establishing a creative routine for yourself.

Kahn has five action items (one for each step) to build a writing ritual, upon which you can rely whenever you feel stuck, unmotivated, or uninspired.
