Iceland is beloved among readers for its Christmas Eve tradition of giving books as gifts.

And there’s more reason for us bookworms to put the island on a pedestal: More books are published there, per capita, than anywhere else in the world.

No surprise, then, that author Veronica Scott Esposito felt drawn to Iceland.

She describes her literary vacation there in an essay on Literary Hub that will likely inspire envy (and irritation, if your bank account isn’t prepared for Iceland prices).
