Former first lady Michelle Obama’s memoir hits the public shelves Tuesday, but advance reviewers are giving sneak peeks into what the average reader can expect.

The Washington Post describes Becoming as revealing but not full-on confessional — the tight-knit group of friends she relies upon and her daughters, most notably, remain as private as can be.

Yet Obama reveals her fertility struggles and how she went through in vitro, partly while her husband was away in the Illinois Statehouse, and she makes no bones about her revulsion with the uglier sides of politics.
