The latest word of the year, as chosen by Dictionary.com, is “misinformation.”

This gloomy choice keeps with the theme of other dictionaries’ words of the year: “single-use” and “toxic.”

Even sadder? Dictionary.com rattles off a laundry list of newsworthy incidents that inspired it to choose “misinformation” for this honor.
