We bookworms are fond — some would say too fond — of turning up our noses at television.

The New York Times gently points out, though, that it’s time to climb down off that soapbox.

The list of notable authors who are writing for the small screen grows every day, it seems: Margaret Atwood, Gillian Flynn, George R.R. Martin, Salman Rushdie, Kevin Kwan, and Neil Gaiman, to name just a few.

And even the esteemed University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop has embraced the trend, offering a class called Writing for Television this fall.
