In the heart of cold and flu season, one can't help but think about — and, hopefully, praise the efficacy of — the immune system.

But, better yet, we can also learn about how much more powerful our immune systems can become, in the hands of savvy scientists.

Immunologist Daniel Davis discusses this topic in his new book, The Beautiful Cure: The Revolution In Immunology And What It Means For Your Health.

Appropriately enough when talking about bacteria, viruses, and fungi, Terry Gross hosted him on Fresh Air to preview the book.
