Alice Walker’s By The Book feature made waves recently for its nonchalant inclusion of a book by a man accused of anti-Semitism.

Walker told the New York Times that And the Truth Shall Set You Free by British David Icke was among those on her nightstand.

Tablet magazine has an extremely comprehensive rundown of the objectionable things Icke has said or written, along with past instances of Walker praising him or expressing views that are seen as anti-Semitic.

Many critics, including Tablet, are upset that the Times did not include an explanation of Icke and the issues surrounding him in the feature.

As of 4:45 p.m. Central time, the post remained as originally published.
