The Israeli novelist Amos Oz has died of cancer, his daughter confirmed on Twitter today. He was seventy-nine.
Oz, who published nineteen works of fiction and nonfiction, was best known for novels including Black Box, In the Land of Israel, and A Tale of Love and Darkness, which was adapted into a movie by Natalie Portman.
According to the Guardian, he was also among the first public figures to support the two-state solution to resolve the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
