Here’s something to put you in the mood for happy hour: A distillery, an art museum, and a university library are collaborating to bring back historical liquor recipes.

It all started when someone asked a Minneapolis Institute of Art associate curator what drinks would’ve been consumed in a 1700s French grand salon, the theme of one of the museum's period rooms.

That curator turned to the University of Minneapolis’s Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine to find an answer ... and Tattersall Distillery to bring the recipes to life.

Now you can not only taste the concoctions at Tattersall, but you can also view an online exhibition and recipe book.

Cheers to our former colleague Sharyn Jackson for reporting on this and other ways in which you can imbibe like your ancestors in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
