Actress/producer Viola Davis and award-winning novelist Nnedi Okorafor have teamed up to bring Octavia E. Butler’s work to the small screen, reports Deadline.

Butler’s Patternist sci-fi books are serving as the basis for the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Wild Seed.

Wild Seed, according to Deadline, is “a love (and hate) story of two African immortals who travel the ages from pre-Colonial West Africa to the far, far future.”

The show takes its name from the first installment of Butler’s series, a book that Davis called life-changing and Okorafor referred to as her favorite of Butler’s work.
