The list of actions that marketing or writing experts suggest that authors should or must do can be staggering at times.

We do our best to share any tips on how to minimize the burden that this can place on you.

And today, we’re glad to say that we have an advice post that actively rejects one of those “musts.”

Lynne Cantwell took to Indies Unlimited to refute this particular assertion she found on Quora:

“Don’t forget to do a POD print edition, even if its layout is pure template-driven and it’s not up to pro standards in production values. Ebooks with print editions sell better than ebooks without.”

Cantwell’s rebuttal takes apart both pieces of that paragraph, along with adding the hilarious observation that this commenter doesn’t even practice what she preaches.

So, even if you don’t read the full post, rest assured that Cantwell’s survey of fellow indie authors found no reason that POD paperbacks have to look unprofessional or that ebooks with print versions truly do sell better.
