The word “should” is not always our favorite to hear ... but here’s a great exception.

Dr. Katherine Rundell, a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, thinks readers of all ages should read children’s lit.

She believes this so strongly that she’s written a book about it: Why You Should Read Children’s Books, Even Though You Are So Old and Wise, which comes out this summer.

Rundell says it’s not simply a nostalgia trip, though that is a wonderful perk; she thinks adults can benefit from the sense of hope and heavy dose of fantasy that kids’ books often carry.

For more justification of this happiness prescription, check out the Guardian’s feature on Rundell.
