Yowza — nearly 3,000 words have joined the Official Scrabble Words book.

The book, released by Collins Dictionary today, is used in international tournaments.

So while “ok” has been acceptable in United States competition since 2015, when it joined Merriam-Webster's Scrabble dictionary, it’s only just now, well, OK in global contests.

Other new words reflect gender issues (transphobia, upskirting, mansplaining), political developments (antifa, remainer), pop culture (Instagram, overshare, anti-vaxxer), food trends (bao, sriracha), and slang (bae, preggo, and yowza).
