If we were to make a list of books we most strongly associated with bookworms of all ages, we’d have to include the Encyclopedia Brown series.

And that’s how Donald J. Sobel, their author, would have wanted it to be — that our first thought would be of his hero’s name, not his own.

Sobel’s children gave CrimeReads a glimpse into the life of Encyclopedia Brown's reclusive creator who won over so many young readers (and made many into writers themselves).
