There’s some competition in the potential purchase of Barnes & Noble.

The Wall Street Journal reports that book distributor Readerlink may try to top Elliott Management’s $683 million bid from last week.

A key date in this saga is approaching quickly: Elliott’s deal to buy B&N includes a clause that it receives up to $4 million if another party swoops in before the end of the day June 13; after June 13, that payment goes up to $17.5 million.

The Digital Reader, citing the WSJ, says none of the involved parties have commented on the latest developments.
