When we do roundup posts, like yesterday's summer reading lists, we try to make sure there’s variation among them.

It’s tough to avoid all repeat selections, though, which is actually a good thing — that means a particular book must truly be a must-read for whatever occasion.

On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous was one of those frequent inclusions on summer lists, so it seemed important to share a recent NPR interview its author did.

Ocean Vuong has won awards for his poetry, and Earth is his debut novel. He discusses meaningful passages from it and how it resembles — yet differs — from his own family’s immigrant experience with Weekend Edition’s Scott Simon.
