We’ve covered attempts in Washington state and Pennsylvania to ban book donations to prisoners, as well as individual books’ censorship in Arizona.

Now it’s time to meet some of the people working to ensure inmates have access to the material, like the group Book ‘Em.

Literary Hub has an essay from a volunteer for Book ‘Em, which is Pittsburgh’s books-to-prisoners donation program, that describes its origins, its process, and the challenges it has faced.
