People picture bookworms as reclusive, sedentary creatures.

And for some avid readers, that’s an accurate portrait — but it’s hardly true of all of us.

Take, for example, the hikers along the Appalachian Trail.

Rebecca Booroojian, a fantasy-novel lover, writer, and hiker, noticed a distinct trend among the folks she encountered along that trail: Their devices were loaded with fantasy audiobooks and ebooks.
