Sometimes authors set out to write a series, and other times, it just happens to them.

Susanna Calkins wound up in the latter camp; she thought her first book would be her only book ... until she found herself with a two-book contract offer.

Calkins now has four books total in that particular series, and she reflects on lessons she learned while writing a series — not hard-and-fast rules, but simply commentary on her experience that you can read in Writer’s Digest.
