A crowdfunding campaign has ensured that a piece of an 1814 letter from novelist Jane Austen to her niece will remain public.
The Bookseller reports that the Jane Austen’s House Museum raised over £10,000 (about $12,100) in six weeks to reach the final purchase price of £35,000 (about $42,400).
It will join twelve other letters on display at the museum and joins the British Library's fragment as the only two available to the public; two sections have been lost, and one other remains in private hands.
You can read more about the contents of the fragment in the Bookseller.
