Two of Tuesday’s hot release are already set for TV adaptations.
Deadline reports that Spyglass Media Group emerged victorious from a “competitive situation” to option The Institute by Stephen King.
Television heavyweights David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Jack Bender (Lost) will again serve as the creative team behind it; they previously adapted King’s Bill Hodges Trilogy into a show called Mr. Mercedes.
The Institute, which came out yesterday, pits children with supernatural powers against an organization that seizes them, takes advantage of their abilities, and destroys them when their usefulness is exhausted or they disobey.
Its quick option follows in the footsteps of The Testaments, the sequel to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which is confirmed to be headed to the small screen as well, whether as a standalone series or as part of the existing Handmaid’s Tale show.
