After more than seventy years, a Nazi victim’s diary will appear in English in less than two weeks.
Renia Spiegel, a Polish Jew, began her diary when she was fifteen and wrote in it for three years; she was killed by a German soldier who found her in hiding when she was eighteen.
Her boyfriend managed to keep the journal and survive Auschwitz; he gave it to Renia’s sister and mother in 1950.
It wasn’t until 2012 that Renia’s niece decided to have it translated from Polish into English, and on September 24, Renia's Diary: A Holocaust Journal will be released.
