Lyra Belacqua has officially returned, all grown up.

The Secret Commonwealth, the second installment of Philip Pullman’s Book of Dust trilogy, hit shelves today and has already reached bestseller status (unsurprisingly).

If you’re awaiting your physical copy, you may want to skip the Vox and Guardian reviews, though both are generally positive overall — there’s plenty of plot detail in each.

Instead, whet your appetite with the excerpt Pullman shared months ago or with a recent interview he gave the New Yorker.

And for those interested in the TV adaptation of the series, Entertainment Weekly explains why season two has been filmed already when season one has yet to premiere (it will, in fact, be another month before you can watch it).
