Authors on the Booker shortlist share their sources of inspiration

A week from today, we’ll learn which book received the 2019 Booker Prize.

In the meantime, the Guardian asked the six authors in the running — Margaret Atwood, Lucy Ellman, Bernardine Evaristo, Chigozie Obioma, Salman Rushdie, and Elif Shafak — to share their writing inspiration.
