Investigative journalist Ronan Farrow’s new book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators, comes out Tuesday, and the New York Times has a jaw-dropping preview of its contents.

Catch and Kill focuses on the efforts made to protect sexual predators, such as Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer; to halt investigations into their crimes and the cover-ups; and to further intimidate their victims.

Lauer, NBC's former star anchor, is the subject of today’s revelation.

The woman who accused him of raping her both agreed to be identified in Farrow’s book and to do an on-the-record interview with him — including an account of her assault, which Lauer continues to deny through his lawyer.

Some of those details are in the Times’s article on Catch and Kill, though it also previews Farrow's battles with network executives to expose both Weinstein and Lauer, if you’d prefer to skip to that section instead.
