The headline to an excerpt from a new book about reading is among the most encouraging and direct things we’ve ever read on the internet: “Books won’t die.”

That’s the conclusion of professor Leah Price, who recently published What We Talk about When We Talk about Books: The History and Future of Reading.

The passage from it that she shares uses past (incorrect) predictions of the book’s demise to counter fears that books in all forms will disappear.
